Reporting to the Station Officer, the Fire Officer leads and assists in the operations of Airport Emergency Services (AES) to ensure efficient response readiness by managing personnel and resources. The role ensures incidents are handled efficiently, adhering to Health and Safety regulations, General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) licensing standards, and internal airport policies. It involves enforcing strong command and control measures, adhering to emergency procedures, and maintaining a safe, disciplined working environment aligned with AES and airport standards.

Job Brief

Reporting to the Station Officer, the Fire Officer leads and assists in the operations of Airport Emergency Services (AES) to ensure efficient response readiness by managing personnel and resources. The role ensures incidents are handled efficiently, adhering to Health and Safety regulations, General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) licensing standards, and internal airport policies. It involves enforcing strong command and control measures, adhering to emergency procedures, and maintaining a safe, disciplined working environment aligned with AES and airport standards.

Responsibilities

  • Incident Response Management : Provide Incident Command during emergencies and make critical decisions to manage incidents effectively.
  • Command and Control : Execute high-standard protocols during operations to ensure safety.
  • Training & Competency Maintenance : Collaborate to manage the AES Maintenance of Skills (MOS) and Structured Learning Program (SLP).
  • Training Compliance : Administer and maintain AES training and auditing systems per GCAA regulations.
  • Budget Oversight : Assist with managing the AES budget in line with business needs.
  • Stakeholder Liaison : Communicate and collaborate professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Workplace Safety and Standards : Ensure a safe working environment, enforce staff discipline, and uphold welfare policies.
  • Health and Fitness Standards : Ensure AES staff meet required medical and fitness criteria.
  • Emergency Planning & Collaboration : Assist with airport emergency planning and exercises.
  • Training and Assessment Leadership : Support training teams and oversee audits.
  • Audit Compliance : Help maintain an audit process that meets GCAA requirements.
  • Project Management : Lead AES-related projects, including policy and procedure development.
  • Management Support : Assist in implementing organizational decisions and change processes.
  • Personnel Management : Handle staff-related matters, including sickness levels and welfare.
  • Administrative Duties : Maintain accurate policies, risk assessments, and records.
  • Incident Investigations : Conduct and report investigations on AES incidents.
  • Personnel Development : Oversee development and audits of AES staff.
  • Emergency Services Liaison : Build operational relationships with external emergency services.
  • Exercise Management : Support the planning and execution of emergency exercises.
  • AES Manager Deputy : Act as deputy to the Station Officer when required.
  • Additional Duties : Perform other tasks to ensure smooth business operations.

Requirements and Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • ICAO Level 4 English proficiency.
  • Medical and physical fitness to meet assessment criteria.

Education and Qualifications

  • Accredited certification at Watch Manager (or equivalent).

Experience

  • 4-5 years of experience in aviation rescue and firefighting services.
  • Minimum 3 years at crew manager level.
