To interpret and perform diagnostic and therapeutic imaging procedures within the Scope of Radiology Department. The service includes: plain films, fluoroscopy, GI studies, angiography, invasive procedures, CT, ultrasound, and MRI. Administrative support is provided by the Chief Radiologist.

Responsibilities:

  1. Serves as a diagnostic radiological consultant to physicians.
  2. Interprets all types of general radiological examinations, including those requiring fluoroscopy, special procedures, angiography, ultrasound, radioisotopes, CT, and MRI scanning within the limits of training, experience, and clinical privileges, with the approval of the Chief of Radiology.
  3. Participates in physician conferences and rounds.
  4. Works with technologists and instructs them in specialized views and positioning of patients for unusual or difficult problems.
  5. Participates in the Quality Improvement Program of the hospital to meet international standards.
  6. Provides on-call emergency coverage.
  7. Participates in the orientation of new technologists and new radiologists.
  8. Performs other miscellaneous related duties as requested by the Chief Radiologist.
  9. Complies with all OSH and infection control policies, standards, and procedures.
  10. Familiarizes with emergency and evacuation procedures.
  11. Notifies OSH hazards, incidents, near misses, and assists with the preparation of risk assessments and incident reports.
  12. Complies with waste management procedures and policies.
  13. Attends applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills, and awareness programs.
  14. Uses appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Graduate of an approved Medical School with a valid license to practice medicine; or certification by American Board of Radiology or possession of a FRCR (Canada) in Diagnostic Radiology or the English FRCR (or equivalent).
  2. Specialized training or 4 years of experience as a practicing radiologist.
  3. Excellent command of oral and written English; knowledge of Arabic is desirable but not essential.
  4. Thorough knowledge of medical ethics, particularly regarding confidentiality; personality that inspires confidence and trust in patients; adherence to Bylaws, Rules, and Regulations of the Medical Organization.
  5. Current licensure in country of origin and with HAAD license to practice in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
  6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, superiors, patients, and families.
