Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Manager to lead our efforts to implement our reporting, risk-management, and investment processing systems. The Middle Office Manager will be responsible for interfacing with the Asset Management and Financing Departments to ensure that investments are appropriately onboarded, recorded, and gauged within the platform. The Manager will also be expected to interact with the service providers responsible for the Middle Office system. The ideal candidate will have experience in investment administration and reconciliation. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES System Migration/Management:
- Identify key requirements of the investment system and integrate with systems of associated (sister) units/companies.
- Ensure the system is appropriately maintained and serves the firm’s requirements.
- Lead efforts as they pertain to investment administration including (but not limited to) executing investments/divestment, post-investment follow-up, tax compliance, and reporting.
- Ensure integrity of data by acting as liaison between Asset Management Team, Finance Team, Group Treasury, and external parties (such as Custodians).
- Ensure Middle Office workflow activities adhere to a robust risk management framework.
- Continuously identify and implement operational system enhancements and policy changes as relevant to the firm’s operations.
- Manage the preparation of investment reporting at regular intervals as per the requirements of various forums (i.e., Investment Committee, Executive Committee, and Board of Directors).
- Develop, manage, and maintain comprehensive reporting systems for investment performance, tracking key metrics such as returns, risks, and asset allocations.
- Prepare timely and accurate reports for internal management, investors, and regulatory agencies.
- Analyze portfolio performance, identify trends, and provide actionable insights for decision-making.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of analysts and reporting professionals.
- Oversee daily operations of the investment reporting team, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
- Organize training sessions and foster a collaborative team environment.
- Oversee trade capture, processing, and settlement procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Work closely with Front Office, Back Office, and counterparties to resolve trade discrepancies and settlement issues promptly.
- Monitor and report on operational risks, ensuring that robust controls are in place to mitigate errors and reduce operational exposures.
- Serve as a liaison between the Investment, Risk, and Compliance teams to ensure alignment on risk policies and practices.
- Streamline middle office processes through automation and process improvements, ensuring timely and accurate execution of operations.
- Continuously assess and refine procedures to improve operational reliability and efficiency.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance comprehensive reporting frameworks to capture and communicate key performance indicators, including returns, risk metrics, and asset allocation.
- Produce periodic reports and dashboards for internal stakeholders, senior management, investors, and regulatory bodies.
- Ensure accurate data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes in the creation of investment reports.
- Implement rigorous data validation and quality control measures to maintain high reporting standards.
- Analyze portfolio performance and provide actionable insights to enhance investment strategies and operational processes.
- Present analysis and recommendations to senior leadership to support strategic decision-making.
- Manage day-to-day investment operations, ensuring seamless interaction between the front, middle, and back office functions.
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of systems and technologies that support investment operations and reporting.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of middle office, reporting, and operations professionals, fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Set clear performance expectations and conduct regular performance reviews to ensure team growth and accountability.
- Ability to contribute to the engineering of the system in a manner that adheres to portfolio logic, accounting framework, and governance requirements.
- Proficiency in reconciliation and reporting of financial assets which are housed across multiple holding groups/companies.
- Knowledge in onboarding/maintenance/divestment of assets as they pertain to reporting and bookkeeping.
- Deep knowledge of financial and accounting metrics and their relevance across a myriad of asset classes.
- Understand and apply internal controls and regulatory standards to maintain compliance in all reporting and operational processes.
- Ensure data integrity by integrating information from various sources and regularly checking for accuracy.
- Ability to contribute positively to team dynamics and goals.
- Communication skills for articulating complex technical issues to non-specialist parties.
- Ability to solve problems by amending rigid systems to serve internal objectives.
