Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Full Professor in Interior Design
CATEGORY: Faculty Members College: Fine Arts and Design Department: Applied DesignJob Purpose
The College of Fine Arts and Design seeks a qualified candidate to teach full-time courses in design studio and related subjects in interior design beginning September 2025. Applicants with interdisciplinary teaching and research experience are strongly encouraged to apply.Responsibilities
- Ability to teach design studio and related courses in interior design, with a special interest in teaching Furniture Design, Lighting Design, Materials and Finishes, History & Theory, Drawing and Drafting, or Computer-Aided Design courses.
- Strong research and publication or applied design scholarship.
- Contribution to Fundamentals of Design and Drawing studios.
- Academically advise undergraduate students.
- Engage in Program/Department and College assignments, activities, and events.
- Participate in relevant professional activities to improve teaching and subject matter competence.
- Serve on faculty committees as appointed or elected.
- Lead efforts toward community engagement and other activities as assigned by the Department Chair or College Dean.
Required Skills
Applicants holding PhD/MID/MDes degree with established record of academic performance and scholarly activities. Preference will be given to candidates demonstrating:- Effective teaching skills and professional experience.
- Solid experience in teaching and learning media & technology.
- Ability to teach art and design survey courses or printmaking studios.
- Good record in research and/or artistic scholarly activities.
- At least 5 years full-time teaching experience in higher education institutions.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills (in English).
- Strong interpersonal skills towards effective professor-student interactions, both one-on-one (student interaction) and in group (classroom) sessions.
- Sincere interest in assisting each student within a diverse and multi-cultural community to maximize their academic, spiritual and personal potential.
- Team player that is motivated to strengthen and advance the department.
