Backhoe Dredge Master is responsible for day-to-day operations with the highest production and efficiency, as well as the highest operating hours, movements, and activities in accordance with NMDC policies and operating procedures while complying with regulations of concerned authorities. The Backhoe Dredge Master is responsible for operations of lifting machines, mooring/unmooring of the hopper barge to the Backhoe Dredger, and thus responsible for daily dredging operations, communications, safe navigation, maintaining stability, and encouraging safe working practices amongst the crew. Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise dredging operations and optimize the dredging process and the continuity of the vessel.
- Keep up-to-date reports of dredging operations and progress.
- Safeguard the integrity of the vessel and excavator.
- Stay fully aware of the hydrographic and meteorological situation in the area of operations.
- Safeguard and motivate crews on health, safety, and environment policies.
- Organize daily maintenance works (greasing, replacement of bucket teeth, etc.) of dredging equipment together with Technical Superintendent.
- Ensure periodical review of safety management system and report/suggest to Superintendents on the matter.
- Manage safety programs and drills on-board.
- Train and familiarize new crew members of the Dredger.
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
