The International University of Science & Technology in Kuwait (IUK) is a newly established private university in Kuwait, with a new Campus located in the heart of Kuwait near the Avenues Mall. Fully accredited by the Private Universities Council (PUC), the University offers a wide range of academic programs in Engineering, Business, and Arts and Social Sciences. In addition to the academic programs, the IUK has established the University Foundation Program (UFP) that offers English and Math foundation programs. IUK is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Student Life Counsellor to join our Student Affairs Department. The primary role of the Student Life Counsellor is to work with university students, colleges, and families, using psychology to promote positive outcomes in relation to wellbeing, communication, and learning.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and apply effective interventions to promote psychological wellbeing, social, emotional, and behavioral development, and to raise educational standards.
  • Design, develop and support therapeutic and behavior management programs.
  • Assess the learning and emotional needs of students.
  • Consult with various teams to advise on the best approaches and provisions to support learning and development.
  • Advise, persuade, support, and negotiate with faculty members, parents, student affairs team and other education professionals.
  • Conduct active research and formulate interventions that focus on how best to meet the social, emotional, behavioral, and learning needs of the students at IUK.
  • Write reports making recommendations on action to be taken.

Qualifications

  • Minimum master's degree in Psychology or related discipline.
  • Related professional affiliations.
  • Experience as an educator is valuable. Other relevant roles include education social worker, psychologist, teaching assistant, learning mentor or literacy tutor, careers adviser, speech and language therapist, or early years teachers.
