Petroplan is recruiting for the position of Site Inspector - Precast Yard on behalf of a Global Engineering Consultancy for a maritime civil construction project in Oman. The scope of the project entails the repair and reconstruction of the present marine infrastructure of a large desalination plant. The position will become available in May 2024, and has an 18-month program. Site Inspector - Precast Yard Full time position. The Site Inspector would assist the Resident Engineer (RE) and Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) by witnessing and conducting the day-to-day site inspections. These may include off-site inspections as well if required at manufacturing facilities. During certain periods where a significant number of inspections are required during short periods, or if inspections are geographically far apart, a second site inspector may be required.Key Responsibilities
- Inspect construction activities.
- Oversee material testing processes and coordinate with laboratories to validate the quality of construction materials used in the projects.
- Safeguarding the quality of work:
- Check that work is following building regulations,
- Make sure that work is following project plans,
- Measure and sample building materials to check their quality,
- Defects identification and reporting.
- Monitor work progress.
- Write field reports:
- accurate inspection records,
- daily reports,
- photos,
- record any deviations from project specifications.
- Liaising between different departments.
- Civil Engineering Diploma (3 years) from a recognized Technical University or similar institution; or equivalent experience; preferably with a bias toward Civil Engineering Site Inspections.
- Minimum 2-5 years' post-graduation experience as a Site Inspector on infrastructure projects, maritime civil construction would be an advantage.
- Strong technical knowledge and understanding of engineering principles and practices.
- Familiarity with FIDIC construction regulations and experience working on projects in the Middle East.
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools, such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, BIM360, and project management software.
- Professional working proficiency in English language.

- Submission of all reports and deliverables by their due dates.
- Any other deadlines as determined by the Resident Engineer, Assistant Resident Engineer, and the Site Clerk.
