Key Responsibilities Head of Design Operations Job Description
- Design Leadership:
- Lead the design team in creating innovative, aesthetically pleasing, and functional spaces for commercial and residential projects.
- Set the creative direction for projects and ensure that designs align with the company’s vision, the client's objectives, and industry trends.
- Oversee the creation of both 3D and 2D design deliverables, including architectural plans, interior designs, and visual presentations.
- Business Development:
- Collaborate with the Director of Business Development and Strategy to identify new opportunities, partnerships, and markets for the company’s design services.
- Collaborate with the Head of Construction and Head of Implementation and Products to ensure ease of transition of services.
- Contribute to proposal development, client presentations, and pitches to win new projects.
- Proactively seek out and secure new projects, clients, and contracts to drive revenue growth.
- Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships to foster repeat business and referrals.
- Collaborate with the executive team to define strategic objectives and create an actionable plan for achieving them.
- Regularly report on progress and achievements related to growth and business development initiatives to the executive team.
- Monitor market trends, competitive landscape, and industry shifts to adapt and refine growth strategies as needed.
- Team Management:
- Recruit, mentor, and manage a team of designers and architects, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Provide clear direction, guidance, and constructive feedback to team members to ensure project success and professional growth.
- Manage workloads and project assignments to optimize team performance and project delivery.
- Design Quality Assurance:
- Establish and uphold design quality standards, ensuring all projects meet or exceed client expectations, industry regulations, and company benchmarks.
- Review and approve design deliverables, providing guidance and revisions as needed to uphold design excellence.
- Conduct regular design reviews and post-project evaluations to identify areas for improvement.
- 3D and 2D Design Expertise:
- Oversee the development of 3D renderings, models, and visual presentations to help clients visualize designs.
- Ensure the accuracy and precision of 2D architectural plans, drawings, and construction documents.
- Collaborate with the team to integrate 3D and 2D design concepts seamlessly into projects.
- Team Growth and Development:
- Create a culture of learning and continuous improvement within the design team.
- Provide training, resources, and opportunities for skill development and career advancement.
- Encourage team members to stay updated on industry trends, emerging design technologies, and architectural best practices.
- Other Duties:
- Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned or instructed by leadership to support the overall goals and mission of the company.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field.
- 10 years of field experience in a leadership capacity (or degree equivalent).
- Proven experience in a leadership role within a design and construction firm, with a strong portfolio showcasing commercial and residential projects.
- Demonstrated experience in managing design projects from concept to completion.
- Ability to develop and manage project timelines and budgets.
- A deep understanding of the design process, including concept development, space planning, material selection, and project management.
- Proficiency in architectural and interior design concepts.
- Strong understanding of space planning, materials, and finishes.
- Demonstrated ability to create innovative and aesthetically pleasing designs.
- Excellent business development skills with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and team management skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Proficiency in design software, including AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Exceptional communication and presentation abilities.
- Demonstrated commitment to design quality, attention to detail, creativity, and innovation.
- Experience in quality control and assurance processes
- Proficient in building codes and regulations
- Ability to interpret and meet client needs and preferences
