SABIC (Saudi Arabia Basic Industries Corporation) is a Saudi diversified manufacturing company, active in chemicals and intermediates, industrial polymers, fertilizers, and metals. It is the largest public company in Saudi Arabia, as listed in Tadawul, but the Saudi government still owns 70% of its shares. SABIC is also the largest listed company in the Middle East. Private shareholders are from Saudi Arabia and other countries of the six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

SABIC was the world's fourth largest chemical producer in 2013. It is currently the second largest global ethylene glycol producer and is expected to top the list after the introduction of new projects. SABIC is the third largest polyethylene manufacturer, the fourth largest polyolefins manufacturer, and the fourth largest polypropylene manufacturer. SABIC is also the world’s largest producer of MTBE, granular urea, polycarbonate, polyphenylene and polyether imide.

SABIC began in 1976 by Royal decree and its growth has been nothing short of miraculous. Today, the company has operations in over 50 countries with a global workforce of over 40,000 talented individuals. 

LEADERSHIP

The Chairman of SABIC is Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Thunayan Al-Saud. Acting Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Yousef Abdullah Al-Benyan, leads the global management team. The company is overseen by a Board of Directors taken from government and the private sector.

ORGANIZATION

SABIC operates in more than 50 countries across the world and has 65 world-class manufacturing and compounding plants in locations across the Middle East, Asia, Europe and the Americas. Its headquarters are in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.

SABIC is composed of several business units, each headed by an Executive Vice President. These are: Chemicals, Plastics, Agri-Nutrients, Metals and Specialties.
