Office of Indigenous Strategy and Engagement The Office of Indigenous Strategy and Engagement provides strategic leadership to the university with a vision for Equal engagement and participation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in higher education through the recognition of, and respect for, Indigenous peoples, knowledge, and culture. Our mission is to increase the recognition of Indigenous knowledges and perspectives, the promotion of teaching and research in Indigenous studies, the employment of Indigenous staff, increasing the participation of, and opportunities for, Indigenous students and engagement with Indigenous communities and issues. About the Role Flinders University is seeking a passionate professional to join our team and make a lasting impact on our students’ academic journey as the Indigenous Student Success Program Officer! The Indigenous Student Success Program Officer provides essential administrative support to the Yungkurrinthi Student Engagement team, with a focus on the Yungkurrinthi Tutorial Program (YTP). The role promotes Indigenous student retention by managing YTP applications, coordinating tutor recruitment and training, and assisting with student events and communications. The Officer also advises students and tutors on YTP eligibility, processes, and documentation, contributes to the dissemination of scholarship information, and maintains the Yungkurrinthi social media and web presence. - You are required to submit a Suitability Statement of no more than 3 pages, addressing the Key Position Capabilities of the position description.
- Experience in providing support services and understanding the issues faced by Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples in a tertiary setting.
- Effective customer service skills, including oral, interpersonal, and written skills, to communicate effectively with a wide range of people including staff, students, and community.
- Effective administration and data analysis skills.
