The Principal Engineer based in Brisbane, will provide specialist engineering input and oversight of highly complex issues for the department. About The Role
- Leadership in the provision of high-level strategic direction for the planning and management for the department's portfolio of non-commercial water assets, including 5 referable dams
- Develop an Asset Review Strategy, focus on emerging strategic divestment opportunities and risk reduction. Deliver key outcomes including divestment negotiations and major contract work
- Undertake complex engineering assessments, designs, site evaluations and audits of water assets, abandoned mine site features and other infrastructure on state land
- Coordinate major projects involving investigations, design and civil works for the modification and remediation of state-owned dams and weirs
- Lead the preparation and management of dam safety documentation
- Lead and manage a team of engineers, strategically planning and allocating resources to ensure productivity and sustain technical expertise
- Undertake works estimates, budget planning, and financial reporting
- Prepare full life-cycle costing models for water assets, evaluate major project outcomes, and identify areas for improvement to enhance state-wide delivery of critical business operations
- A relevant degree in engineering from a recognised tertiary institution
- The position requires that the occupant be a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) or have the ability to acquire registration within a negotiated period of time from commencement
- Open C Class diver licence
