We have an exciting opportunity for a Rural Property Specialist to oversee landowner and wider community relationships within Mercury's generation business with an initial focus on the geothermal assets including a significant number of property relationships at Kawerau and our Taupo sites.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Build and maintain landowner relationships, including with a number of Māori land trusts, including both generating assets and future development sites
  • Develop and maintain relationships with neighbouring landowners and engagement with the wider communities where we operate
  • Support the business with contract negotiations for the acquisition of new property rights as required for future developments
  • Manage or provide assistance with any property acquisition and disposal processes as required
  • Regularly review upcoming expiry or renewal reports and commence negotiations to progress or engage with appropriate Mercury personnel to progress

We are looking for:

  • A Property, Valuation or Natural Resources tertiary qualification
  • At least five years of relevant work experience including property transactions and/or property management advice
  • Demonstrated record of relationship management experience, including experience of iwi relationships
  • Strong commercial acumen, including an understanding of valuation appraisal processes
  • Experience in dealing with complex legal documents
  • Ability to work on cross functional teams as the business requires
  • Ability to lead external advisors
