We have an exciting opportunity for a Rural Property Specialist to oversee landowner and wider community relationships within Mercury's generation business with an initial focus on the geothermal assets including a significant number of property relationships at Kawerau and our Taupo sites.
Key Accountabilities:
- Build and maintain landowner relationships, including with a number of Māori land trusts, including both generating assets and future development sites
- Develop and maintain relationships with neighbouring landowners and engagement with the wider communities where we operate
- Support the business with contract negotiations for the acquisition of new property rights as required for future developments
- Manage or provide assistance with any property acquisition and disposal processes as required
- Regularly review upcoming expiry or renewal reports and commence negotiations to progress or engage with appropriate Mercury personnel to progress
We are looking for:
- A Property, Valuation or Natural Resources tertiary qualification
- At least five years of relevant work experience including property transactions and/or property management advice
- Demonstrated record of relationship management experience, including experience of iwi relationships
- Strong commercial acumen, including an understanding of valuation appraisal processes
- Experience in dealing with complex legal documents
- Ability to work on cross functional teams as the business requires
- Ability to lead external advisors
