Job Description

PURPOSE & SCOPE: Jobs at this level are engaged in the production of engineering drawings and the supervision of Draftsmen. Job holder perform their Drafting roles within discipline-specific areas of projects and might not be involved in all the accountabilities set out below. This fact does not mean that jobs will be any larger or smaller in evaluation terms as a result of this situation.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Reviews and checks the work of Draftsmen to ensure accuracy and correctness prior to their formal issue for construction.
2. Undertakes pre-engineering site surveys in order to confirm the correctness of handover documents and suitability of allocated site for project implementation (For small and medium size projects).
3. Receives basic drawings from Drafting Team Leader and produces detailed engineering drawings for review and subsequent issue.
4. Undertakes interdisciplinary co-ordination and perform IDC to ensure integration of project Drafting activities. (For small and medium size projects).
5. Design / Prepare Cable block diagram, Single line diagram, Interconnection diagram, Instrument Hook up details, Instrument index, Cable tray layout, Lighting layouts, Instrument / F&G layouts & MCT layout drawing (For small and medium size projects).
6. Prepare Wiring diagrams, Installation standards, Loop diagram, Circulate booklet, Cable / Tube schedule & MCT arrangement drawings.
7. Design / Prepare simple types of supports.
8. Produces material take-offs to ensure accurate account is taken of all component parts required to complete a project.
9. Produces 3 dimensional (3D) modelling presentations to meet contractual client requirements. Applies to large projects, if required.
10. Prepares data diskettes for the Computer Numerical Control system.
11. Verify the electronic files in as built server, prior to burn the CDs for submission to client.

Skills Required

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

1. Higher national Certificate, or *equivalent, and an ITI Certificate in Drafting.
2. 8 years previous Drafting experience with at least 5 years at Level 1.
3. Supervisory potential.
4. Team player.
5. Good knowledge of written and spoken English.
6. Experienced and competent Computer Aided Design (CAD) operator.
7. Rigorous checker. * Note that equivalent not only covers equivalent education or vocation certification, but also covers experience, e.g., 5-10 years relevant experience can be regarded as “equivalent”.
