Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Capacity Review Manager to join our Managed Service Provider (MSP) team. This role will be responsible for leading and optimizing our organization's and customers' workloads capacity planning and resource management initiatives across multi-tenant environments. The ideal candidate will ensure operational efficiency, business continuity, and optimal resource allocation for both our infrastructure and our clients' systems. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead comprehensive capacity planning and resource optimization across multi-tenant environments, including:
- Network infrastructure capacity management (switch port utilization, bandwidth allocation)
- Physical infrastructure awareness (rack space, power density, cooling efficiency)
- Software license inventory and utilization optimization
- Cloud resource allocation and scaling
- Develop and maintain capacity forecasting models and analytical frameworks using modern DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management) tools and multi-tenant cloud management platforms
- Conduct regular capacity reviews and assessments of current operations for both internal and client infrastructures, including:
- Network port utilization rates and growth projections
- Rack space availability and future requirements
- Software license usage patterns and compliance
- Cloud resource utilization and cost optimization
- Create and present detailed capacity reports to senior management, stakeholders, and clients, incorporating:
- Infrastructure utilization metrics and trends
- License consumption analytics
- Cost optimization opportunities
- Sustainability metrics
- Multi-tenant environment performance indicators
- Identify potential capacity constraints and propose solutions for:
- Network bottlenecks and port availability
- Physical space limitations
- Software license shortages or overprovisioning
- Cloud resource scaling needs
- Monitor and analyze performance metrics through manual effort, as well as via advanced DCIM software and cloud management tools to ensure optimal resource utilization across all client environments
- Implement and maintain capacity management tools and processes, including:
- Automated infrastructure monitoring systems
- License management platforms
- Capacity forecasting tools
- Resource allocation tracking systems
- Multi-tenant cloud management solutions
- Collaborate with sales and account management teams to provide technical input for client proposals and service level agreements (SLAs)
- Develop and implement capacity management strategies for new client onboarding and service expansion
- Conduct regular capacity planning workshops and training sessions for internal teams and clients
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve capacity planning methodologies
- Design and implement multi-tenant architectures that optimize resource sharing while maintaining client isolation and security
- Develop capacity models that account for varying client needs and growth patterns within a shared infrastructure
- Implement chargeback and showback models for accurate client billing based on resource consumption
- Coordinate with the security team to ensure capacity planning aligns with data protection and compliance requirements in multi-tenant environments
- Optimize resource allocation across different service tiers and client priorities
- Develop automation scripts and workflows to streamline capacity management tasks across multiple client environments
- Conduct capacity-related risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for potential service disruptions
- Collaborate with the service delivery team to ensure capacity plans align with SLAs and client expectations
- 7+ years of experience in capacity planning or resource management, with at least 3 years in an MSP or multi-tenant environment
- Demonstrated experience with DCIM software, multi-tenant cloud platforms, and license optimization tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent project management capabilities
- Advanced proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools
- Experience with capacity planning software and methodologies specific to MSP environments
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Proven experience in managing data center infrastructure capacity and cloud resources
- Knowledge of software license management best practices in multi-tenant settings
- Professional certifications in capacity management or related areas (CDCP, DCEP, or equivalent)
- Master's degree in related field
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Computer Science, or related field
- Experience with ITIL framework and ITSM processes
- Knowledge of industry-standard capacity planning tools and DCIM solutions
- Background in performance optimization and process improvement for MSPs
- Experience with major software vendor licensing models (Microsoft, Oracle, VMware, etc.) in multi-tenant environments
- Certification in software asset management (CSAM, ITAM)
- Familiarity with cloud cost optimization techniques and tools
- Expertise in multi-tenant cloud architectures (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, VMware vCloud)
- Understanding of data center power and cooling architectures in large-scale environments
- Knowledge of network infrastructure and port management across distributed systems
- Experience with software license optimization tools and techniques for multiple clients
- Understanding of cloud resource management and hybrid infrastructure in an MSP context
- Familiarity with automation and orchestration tools for managing multi-tenant environments
