Farm Manager Higham Dairies

We are looking for an individual or couple to join our team, which is split between two farms. The role involves managing a 90ha organic dairy farm with support from a conventional dairy farm located 10 minutes away. The individual/couple we are looking for will ideally have strong animal husbandry skills, be confident performing day-to-day tasks, as well as a willingness to learn new practices within the organic and dairy sector.

Responsibilities:

1. Pasture management, with support
2. Heat detection
3. Shed hygiene and presentation
4. Machinery operating
5. Proactively managing animal health with a focus on prevention

The farm operates as a spring calving system with a 30AHB cowshed, in-shed feeding, ACRs, Protrack, and automatic teat sprayer. The knowledge of organic farming is not essential, and training will be provided. The successful applicant will be honest, reliable, teachable, and eager to drive the farm forward. Accommodation is a 4-bedroom home with a large log fire and heat transfer system. There are primary schools located nearby and a high school bus service at the gate.

1. Work opportunities for a partner are available between both dairy farms.
2. Te Awamutu and Putaruru are located 30 minutes away.
3. Applicants must be in and eligible to work in New Zealand, be drug-free, and have a full driver’s license.
