Mō te tūranga mahi | About the roles We are looking for a Senior Solicitor and a Principal Solicitor to join our Legal Commercial team. These are new permanent roles based in Wellington or Auckland. The Legal Commercial team seeks to deliver positive impact to ACC's broad ($1b+ spend each year) commercial and funding portfolios. We advise on legal commercial strategy, issues and risks at all stages of the investment, procurement and service delivery lifecycles. We focus on high value strategic initiatives and agreements related to health, technology, kaupapa Māori and corporate services, and injury prevention. We are a diverse and close-knit team that seeks to continuously improve, collaborate and innovate to enable ACC's functions and strategic objectives, to enhance risk management and to improve lives every day. Detailed position descriptions can be viewed through the following links: Senior Solicitor Principal Solicitor Base salary range for the Senior Solicitor role is $117,787 - $166,288 with appointment depending on skills and experience and internal relativities. Base salary range for the Principal Solicitor role is $138,301 - $195,248 with appointment depending on skills and experience and internal relativities. ACC also offers 9% superannuation on top of base salary. Mōu | About you The successful Senior Solicitor will have:- A tertiary qualification in law and a current New Zealand Law Society practicing certificate.
- Proven commercial partnering, contracting and legal advisory experience.
- Knowledge of ACC, public sector legislation, and the wider system within which ACC operates preferred.
- Knowledge of, or a willingness to develop knowledge of, Te Ao Māori, tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to develop knowledge of, Te Tiriti o Waitangi / the Treaty of Waitangi as it applies to commissioning, procurement and contracting.
- Strong experience and confidence engaging, influencing and advising at senior leadership levels as well as the skills and ability to work with diverse teams and people organisation wide.
- High levels of customer focus, initiative, and self-motivation.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- An awareness of issues related to people with disabilities and experience working in an environment requiring cultural and social awareness.
- Significant post qualification experience in commercial contracting, legal lead and supported projects and initiatives, contract and template development, legal and commercial risk management, and working within the machinery of Government as it relates to commissioning, procurement and contracting.
- Experience advising on a range of health, ICT, corporate service and multi-agency contracts and agreements.
- Experience proactively building relationships with a diverse range of key stakeholders to understand the strategic context, identify and prioritise a pipeline of work, and to enable proactive legal thinking.
- Experience coaching and mentoring other lawyers.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, problem solving and time management skills.
- High integrity, values, and a spirit of service.
- Experience working with a range of technical experts with experience in highly regulated, insurance or health sectors and Crown Entities would be an advantage.
- The ability to robustly apply public sector disciplines as well as business and commercial nous.
