OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The following is an overview of what would normally be associated with the position of Health Caregiver at NMC ProVita. Health Caregivers are required to adhere to all facility protocols and regulations, maintain patient confidentiality, and act within their scope of practice as defined by state regulations and facility policies.
- Health Caregivers are responsible for assisting patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, toileting, and feeding under the supervision of licensed nursing staff.
- Assist with manual handling tasks such as patient transfers and mobility, based on the caregiver’s level of competency and experience.
- Assist in taking vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates under the supervision of licensed nursing staff.
- Under the supervision and guidance of licensed nurses and therapists, play with pediatric patients where appropriate.
- Observe and promptly report any changes or concerns in patients’ conditions to the licensed nursing staff.
- Support patients during physical, occupational, or speech therapy sessions, as directed.
- Maintain cleanliness in patient rooms and ensure a safe environment conducive to patient recovery.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, provide emotional support, and relay pertinent information to the nursing staff.
- Ensure that patients' rooms are stocked with appropriate supplies and that medical equipment is cleaned appropriately.
- Participate in patients' social activities to promote quality of life in patients we serve.
- Support patients and their families by providing housekeeping, laundry services, food preparation, and running errands.
- Initiate emergency assistance as per policies and procedures.
- Actively participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement.
