Minimum Qualifications: Clinical Bachelor's Degree (preferably BSN or medical/para-medical degree) Current national professional license or equivalent Certified proof of yearly CME Desired Qualifications: Trauma Outcomes Performance Improvement Course completion (if not, within 6 months of starting the role) Trauma Program Manager Course Completion (optional) Recognized Registrar Certification CAIS or CSTR (optional) Injury Scaling Certification (current edition AIS15) (optional) ICD Coding Certification (optional) Quality Management Certification (optional) TNCC or ATCN Certification (optional) BLS, ACLS & PALS/ENPC Certification Experience: Required: Two (2) years of pediatric trauma care experience or general pediatric nursing Desired: N.A. Job Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Trauma Program Manager, the Pediatric Trauma PIPS Coordinator develops, implements and evaluates the trauma program and performance improvement and patient safety (PIPS) plan. The Pediatric Trauma PIPS Coordinator is a licensed healthcare professional with evidence of educational preparation and clinical experience in the care of pediatric trauma patients. Responsibilities include:
  1. Performance improvement and patient safety (PIPS) program
  2. Alignment with industry best practices and recommendation for process improvements
  3. Clinical care guidelines
  4. Research collaboration
  5. Local, regional, and national involvement of trauma system development
  6. Support Research Coordinator to enable program research
Essential Responsibilities: Participates in Quality Management and Performance Improvement activities: Identifies patient care, system, and/or process issues and trends; Assists with chart reviews, data collection and preparation for case presentations. Works with the Trauma Medical Director, Trauma Program Manager and all other departments in the investigation and resolution of issues, and performance improvement activities related to Trauma care delivery. Monitors, reviews, and reports extracted from the trauma registry and all other relevant reports. Assists in the development/revision of administrative policies and clinical nursing guidelines/standards of care for program patients in collaboration with appropriate disciplines. Participates in Departmental meetings, and attends conventions, conferences, workshops, and other professional meetings to extend learning and to represent SSMC Center. Updates the Trauma performance improvement plan (PIPS) annually. Program Leadership: Develops and maintains an adult trauma Performance Improvement and Patient Safety program. Serves as Technical expert in program development. Provides guidance to all employees involved in the program. Provides performance feedback on program employees to applicable managers. Evaluates and reports to departmental/organizational senior management on status and changes in the program. Service Delivery: Participates in case review, tracks PIPS reviews and action plans, designs and implements practice guidelines. Role models service excellence in interactions with internal and external constituents. Establishes a strong cooperative relationship with applicable leaders by providing the information, tools and services necessary to improve the outcomes associated with the program. Communication: Designs and orchestrates the delivery of applicable communication to internal and external constituents. Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication using a variety of methodologies. Coordinates presentations and ensures consistent communication related to the program. Participates in the review of program processes. Recommends and participates in implementation of process improvements. Monitors and measures process changes. Facilitates cross-functional performance improvement teams. Administrative Role: Participates in various hospital processes:

  5. Facilitate development and execution of PIPS program
Resource Management: Works with other relevant program operations managers to design the trauma registry to facilitate performance improvement activities, trend reports, and research while protecting confidentiality. Company Industry:
