The Data Center Consultant is a technical position involving the support of the GIS infrastructure and supporting systems. This incumbent will work closely with team members to become sufficient in serving as the first level of support for the NA data centers, metric gathering/analysis, and helping in supporting all NA plants, logistic centers, warehouses, and all locations on the Akron Campus. This incumbent will be required to be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Visio. Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in supporting the NA data centers and all associated services and infrastructure including working with external vendors. Helps in designing DC spaces in new builds (e.g. Warehouses). In addition, all new builds and all refits are required to meet our CTI document standard for requirements. This position must ensure all these locations meet these standards. Coordinates all requests for new installs into our DC space or Akron Campus and ensures there is adequate power, proper space for the equipment, and cabling needs are met, Also makes sure power is properly balanced.
- Metric gathering/creation/modification for performance across multiple disciplines including but not limited to, the NA data centers (all environmental and infrastructure-related reports) and L1 operations. Will also be required to create and maintain new reports regarding various aspects of the infrastructure and vendor performance utilizing various tools such as Excel and Access.
- Develop/modify/maintain Visio-related drawings for all NA data centers. Review drawings for accuracy and new installs/removals are adequately represented.
- Responsible for following & updating procedures for various applications and/or systems.
- Encumbent will work with external vendors extensively. Must gather quotes, and process/approve all invoices associated with our DC environment. Place orders, and create and maintain POs for the the department (even outside of the DC space). User must work with DC provider to ensure quarterly audits are met, submit/process access tickets to the vendor DC, maintain user access lists to the various DC and IDF closets throughout the campus
- Responsible for PowerIQ and all environmental monitoring in all the NA Data Centers. Power expert on load balancing, PDUs, etc.
- Responsible for the new in-house Data Center Infrastructure Management we are slowly writing/creating. Will write and track POs for the department.
- Bachelor's Degree in computer science, MIS, engineering or related IT-focused discipline
- 4-6 years of working experience with data center-related work. Upkeep, installs, rack & stack, etc. Decommissioning of devices/servers.
- Has proven experience with Data Center Infrastructure Management
- Has experience with Data Center design, data center concepts (power usage, power consumption) data center concepts such as cold aisle containment, Cooling units, and how to balance power loads.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; strong written and verbal communication skills with a strong command of English
