Summary: We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled z/OS Systems Programmer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10-15 years of experience working with z/OS Mainframe environments and possess a strong understanding of various programming languages and tools. This role requires a proactive individual capable of independently managing various tasks, including system maintenance, reporting, and problem resolution. Responsibilities:
- Maintain and support the z/OS mainframe environment, including operating systems, middleware, and applications.
- Develop and maintain REXX, COBOL, and Spectrum Writer programs.
- Prepare and submit monthly Chargeback and System Capacity Reporting Tool (SCRT) reports to the vendor.
- Manage the lifecycle of mainframe software, including tracking, ordering, installation, and maintenance of IBM and third-party software and patches.
- Generate ad-hoc system reports for performance and capacity reviews, and incident investigations.
- Provide support for process automation initiatives.
- Participate in periodic system configuration reviews and audit reviews.
- Assist Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in raising problem tickets to vendors as needed.
- Analyze system dumps and provide technical troubleshooting and support for z/OS and UNIX/USS environments.
- Engage with IBM and vendors for problem determination and resolution.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 10-15 years of experience working with z/OS mainframe environments.
- Proven experience with REXX, COBOL, Assembler, JCL, and TSO/ISPF.
- Strong understanding of mainframe software and patching processes.
- Experience with system performance monitoring and capacity planning.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to analyze system dumps.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical staff.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with process automation tools is a plus.
