We really are a company that wants to make a positive difference. We currently have an exciting new opportunity in our Dam Safety team for a Senior Dam Safety Engineer. Reporting to the Dam Safety Manager, this role is responsible for providing dam safety expertise and knowledge to ensure effective and efficient operation of Watercare's water and wastewater dams. Watercare is the largest dam operator in Auckland and has one of the largest portfolios of high hazards dams in New Zealand. The responsibility of the role is to maintain and advance an efficient and well organised Dam Safety Assurance Programme to maintain raw water supply, and protect life, property and environment from dam failures. You will also:
- Ensure all Watercare's Dams are operated to meet our statutory and corporate obligations
- Support the planning and management of professional services, investigation works and implementation of dam upgrade projects, capital works and maintenance.
- Be responsible for dam safety oversight of Watercare's dam portfolio, these include eleven High Potential Impact Classification (PIC) Dams, five Medium PIC and seventy-seven Low PIC Dams.
- Be responsible for ensuring Watercare's dam safety performance data is reliable through regular analysis, troubleshooting, verification, and investigation
- Provide support and mentoring to dam safety team and Dam Technicians/ field staff in technical and procedural reviews.
- Liaise with Watercare's dam safety assurance surveillance consultants, Dam Safety Intelligence and various external consultants
- Be registered as a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) with Engineering NZ or working towards this
- Hold a relevant tertiary engineering qualification, degree or similar.
- Proven experience in Dam Safety and Dam Engineering.
- Display strong experience in contract management and customer relationship management with the ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to lead and coach a field-based team.
