Product Engineering Technician - Led Backlighting Systems

Further information is available Role Overview: Reporting to the Product Manager, Engineering Technician supports the development, testing, and documentation of Omnify’s backlighting systems and custom lighting projects. This role is essential in assisting with mechanical and electrical design tasks, maintaining project documentation, and ensuring the smooth execution of technical deliverables. The position offers hands-on experience in product engineering, providing an excellent opportunity for growth within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Position Accountabilities: Technical Support

• Assist in the mechanical and electrical design of backlighting systems under the guidance of the Product Manager.
• Collaborate on the preparation of technical drawings using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar tools.
• Participate in prototype development, ensuring samples meet product specifications and quality standards.
• Provide technical support to the customers and the Sales Representatives through proper knowledge of products
• Support the development and testing of product installation procedures.

Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, including BOMs, SOPs, and technical specifications for manufacturing and production teams.
• Ensure all technical packages are completed and properly archived before production starts.
• Assist in the preparation of materials and documentation required for UL, lab, and engineering approvals.

Project Coordination

• Lead and control multiple technical R&D projects to deliver consistent and reliable solutions within budget and while working with tight timelines.
• Support cross-functional communication by interfacing with internal departments, vendors, and customers to clarify project requirements and timelines.
• Within scope of authority and competence, perform all other tasks not specifically mentioned in the present description and required by immediate supervisor.
• Track and report on project progress, identifying potential risks or delays.

Product Testing & Quality Assurance

• Prepare all proposals for each product using UL direction and consistency while maintaining reference to standard measurements, heat sinking and quality standards.
• Lead product testing sessions to ensure compliance with UL and other engineering standards.
• Prepare required samples and documentations for for required lab approvals
• Check all prototypes and initial samples with urgency.

Skills & Qualifications: - Diploma or Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or a related field. - 1-2 years of experience in product development, technical coordination, or a related role. - Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). - Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator or similar tools is a plus. - Strong organizational and time-management skills. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Problem-solving mindset with a passion for continuous learning. - Basic knowledge of UL and electrical standards is an asset. - Hands-on experience with LED lighting systems is a strong advantage.
