Veterinarians diagnose, treat, and research medical conditions and diseases of pets, livestock, and other animals. Veterinarians treat illnesses and injuries, conduct surgical and medical procedures and dental work, and vaccinate animals against diseases. They also teach owners preventive healthcare. REQUIREMENTS Doctor of veterinary medicine degree. Appropriate state licensure. Strong affinity for animals. Ability to make prudent decisions regarding the welfare and well-being of animals. Outstanding communication skills. Excellent people skills. Outstanding organizational skills. Undeterred by being scratched, bitten, or exposed to infectious diseases, and resilient to noise.
