Role and Responsibilities:
- Perform and interpret diagnostic imaging tests and interventional procedures that involve the use of X-ray, ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging, CT and mammography equipment.
- Examine patients, obtain medical history, diagnose illnesses based on imaging and related tests, and recommend additional exams or treatment plans if necessary.
- Explain medical procedures or test results to patients or family members.
- Administer radiopaque substances by injection, orally, or as enemas to render internal structures and organs visible on x-ray films or fluoroscopic screens.
- Provide safe, quality, and effective care to patients.
- Instruct radiology staff in desired techniques, positions, or projections.
- Maintain a deep understanding of anatomy and physiology, since different organs and tissues of the body are more sensitive to radiation.
- Educate and train radiology staff as required.
- Review and transmit images and information using image archiving and communication systems.
- Participate in continuing education activities to maintain professional knowledge and develop expertise.
