Webuild has won a new contract to deliver the Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations section of the Ontario Line and we are currently seeking a Site Engineer - Geotechnical Instrumentation & Monitoring This position is a full-time 100% onsite position at our downtown office. POSITION SUMMARY As the Site Engineer, Geotechnical Instrumentation & Monitoring for the Ontario Line Project at WeBuild, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and installation of ground and structures settlement monitoring systems within the project scope. Reporting to the Monitoring Manager, you will ensure that all monitoring instrumentation installation-related activities meet the required standards and project specifications. Your role will involve coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure the successful integration and installation of monitoring instruments. Responsibilities
- Oversee the installation of monitoring systems, including Building Monitoring Points, Settlement Monitoring Points, Inclinometers, Piezometers, and Utility Monitoring Points, ensuring compliance with project specifications and standards.
- Coordinate with the subcontractors, and other stakeholders to facilitate the installation of the monitoring devices.
- Review and interpret utility plans, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate and efficient implementation.
- Monitor construction activities related to monitoring instrument installation, identifying and addressing any issues or deviations from approved plans.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and safety protocols during utility installation activities.
- Conduct site inspections and quality control checks to verify the proper installation of the instruments.
- Maintain detailed records of installation progress, including as-built drawings and documentation.
- Assist in the preparation and review of technical documents, such as monitoring plans, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies.
- Provide technical support and advice during the monitoring planning and installation phases, addressing any issues or concerns.
- Participate in project meetings and provide updates on monitoring installation progress and issues.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in monitoring installation in construction or infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in interpreting monitoring plans, drawings, and specifications.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards, including monitoring installation guidelines and safety protocols.
- Familiarity with construction materials, methods, and techniques related to monitoring installation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
