The Position The Director of Finance will be responsible for taking charge of the month-end process, reporting, cash management, setting up controls, preparing the annual budget and forecast and participating in the finance department's various transformation projects. - Direct and control all financial activities related to the month-end process while managing financial flows and overseeing the process of preparing bank reconciliations on a daily basis;
- Manage, analyzeand interpret operational results and KPI’s in order to explain variations, performance, using trends and benchmarks
- Develop operational and financial tools to explains results and performance
- Manage the Budget and forecast process
- Control and ensure adequate validation of cash outflows. The candidate will also work closely with the Accounts Payable team to ensure payment deadlines are met, as well as the proper allocation of expenses incurred and the proper management of cash payouts;
- Supervise the establishment of monthly government remittances (GST and QST);
- Work jointly with the payroll team to ensure that accounting activities related to payroll processes are in compliance;
- Act as a point of contact with the banks for the maintenance and updating of the financial platforms used by the company;
- Coordinate and manage the budget process by preparing and carrying out analysis in connection with the annual process;
- Analyze and interpret operational and accounting data to explain variations in cash flow and trends compared to previous periods, budgets and forecasts;
- Participate in special projects and respond to ad hoc requests from the management team;
- Analyze, validate and document any modification or any new process using the reporting system;
- Manage the external audit process;
- Ensures compliance with internal controls and policies and proposes solutions or corrective measures when applicable;
- Suggest and collaborate with the team in place to establish and support best practices and particularly internal and administrative control processes.
- Responsible for cash management and banking model;
- Manage monetaryrisks (cash, interest rates, transactions, etc.);
- Calculation of ratios and all banking or regulatory requirements and providing information to the various stakeholders;
- Take charge of liquidity management and work to optimize cash outflows;
- Manage the company's investment activity and decision-making;
- Set up a cash management process based on the forecast;
- Work jointly with the finance, AR and FP&A teams to align the cash flow forecast with the forecast and the financial results.
- Establish the monthly consolidated financial results and will oversee completing the documents presented to senior management;
- Establish and define the distribution of results to the various accounting teams while ensuring their completeness and accuracy. Will contribute to the drafting of monthly financial reports and will coordinate needs and explanations with peers;
- Prepare financial analysis and record explanations for variances (previous months and quarters);
- Write and implement policies relating to the various accounting standards while actively participating in the support and training of colleagues affected by those policies;
- Assist and coordinate with colleagues in the preparation of annual external audit documents.
- Develop, implement and manage an enterprise-wide compliance program;
- Drafting of control processes and control mapping;
- Ensure the updating of control processes;
- Collaborate andestablish partnerships with several business units within the company.
- Participate in various projects of the Finance department including the implementation of a new ERP;
- Actively participate in the realization of various projects in the Finance department, including the establishment, validation, and maintenance of financial reports necessary for the conduct of the financial activities of the department.
- Key member in the long-term strategic planning for the business working with the global corporate team
- A CPA title as well as 10 - 15 years of experience in accounting
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in managing a team
- Experience in the manufacturing industry would be an asset
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards and their application.
- Good understanding of the financing structure of a private company (Liabilities and Equity);
- Ability to communicate and demonstrate accounting issues while being able to propose and support its conclusions.
- Strong work ethic, characterized by a commitment to continuous improvement within a dynamic and constantly changing environment;
- Demonstrate leadership, flexibility and an analytical mind to manage multiple commitments and competing deadlines;
- Excellent analytical, influencing and negotiating skills;
- Excellent communication skills in English spoken and written.
- A knowledge of the French language would be considered as an asset
- The candidate selected may need to travel in Quebec to visit our sites and overseas for the Solina Group (10-15%)
