Human Resource Manager (HRM) serves as an HR Business Partner for assigned client groups within Canada. This position reports to the HR Director and partners closely with business leaders, HR peers, and various Union representatives to align with talent and business objectives. The HRM, will be the first point of contact for management, employees and Unions seeking HR support, consultation and advice. The HRM will have a designated client base and will work with a high degree of independence. This position has a flexible location but will be servicing Western and Southwestern Ontario. Primary Scope of Role:
- Deliver HR solutions to meet business requirements and objectives.
- Working with business leaders to provide proactive and responsive advice, guidance and interpretation of collective agreements, HR policies, guidelines, procedures, processes and data.
- Provide timely responses to written and verbal general inquiries regarding HR, benefits administration, payroll inquiries and policies.
- Assist with implementation of organizational changes.
- Liaise with and partner with internal and external providers such as Payroll, Benefit Providers, Union representatives, contract service providers and other municipal/regional district representatives.
- Perform general HR duties.
- Conduct employee relations activities including but not limited to investigations, conflict management, coaching and performance management.
- Travel to and from various GIP sites within Western and Southwestern Ontario.
- Assist in the administration of union contracts, including tracking compliance with the terms and conditions of the CBA(s) and addressing employees’ concerns within the framework of the associated union contract.
- Participate in workforce management activities to support business staffing and development needs.
- Develop and deliver communications and/or training for managers and employees on HR initiatives.
- Undergraduate degree in Human Resources or any related discipline.
- 5 – 7 years experience working in Human Resources.
- Proven work experience in Labor Relations, Employment law, Compensation and Rewards, Organizational Development, Talent management, and Occupational Health and Safety.
- Experience working in a unionized environment, specifically construction.
- Experience with Workday and JD Edwards is an asset
- CHRL designation will be an asset.
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License and a satisfactory Drivers Abstract.
- Demonstrated business acumen, together with the ability to appropriately align HR solutions, products and services to business needs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of HR best practices and employment legislation, and its application in Ontario.
- Versatile and resourceful problem solver.
- Proactive and self-motivated.
- Effective communicator, confident in engaging with all levels of the company
- Proficient with Computer Skills
