As a profitable, high-growth business backed by leading venture capital investors, they are scaling rapidly and are looking to expand their exceptional team. They are seeking their first VP of Engineering to lead their growing engineering organization. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for driving operational success, contributing to technical strategy, and mentoring a high-performing team. The ideal candidate will have experience managing multiple product engineering teams, a strong background in application architecture and design, and a passion for nurturing engineering talent. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor 3-4 product engineering teams (individual contributors), fostering a collaborative, innovative, and growth-oriented environment.
• Partner with product and engineering leadership to define and implement architecture and design strategies, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and alignment with organizational goals.
• Play a critical role in accelerating engineers' career growth by providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities.
• Ensure alignment between product teams and organizational objectives, maintaining high performance across all projects.
• Contribute to scaling the organization by driving hiring efforts and refining workflows and processes.
• Establish and uphold high standards for software quality, with robust testing and validation processes in place.

• Location: Candidates must be willing to relocate to Vancouver, BC to work onsite at the company’s downtown headquarters.
• Leadership Experience: 8+ years in software engineering, including at least 3 years managing engineering teams. Proven ability to oversee multiple product engineering teams and work closely with product engineers.
• Technical Expertise: Strong experience in application architecture and design, contributing to strategic decisions on scalability and maintainability.
• People Management: Demonstrated success in mentoring and supporting the growth of engineers’ careers.
• Collaboration: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including product and design.
• Startup Experience: Experience working in fast-paced, scaling startup environments.

• Experience with Elixir or other functional programming languages.
• Familiarity with TypeScript, React, GraphQL, or PostgreSQL.
• Background in regulated or high-compliance industries.
