Job title : Procurement Manager (Parts Distribution Centre) Job Location : Gauteng, Germiston Deadline : January 19, 2025 Quick Recommended Links Specific Role Responsibilities Strategy and Development - Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice procurement strategies, policies, processes, and procedures designed to improve operational performance in the planning and procurement department.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure demand plans are aligned with overall business objectives, market trends, and customer requirements.
- Analyse purchasing data and performance metrics, using this information to drive continuous improvement initiatives and enhance overall operational efficiency
Demand Planning & Inbound Supply Management - Forecasting & Order Placement : Analyse demand patterns and weekly/monthly orders with suppliers are placed according to forecasted demand, ensuring optimal stock levels are maintained within predefined parameters for local and international suppliers.
- First Pick Ratio Management : Ensure a first pick ratio predetermined by the business is met adhered to while making the necessary adjustments to demand plans and procurement strategies to address any deviations.
- Inventory Management : Monitor stock levels and proactively adjust demand and supply plans to prevent stockouts or overstocks, ensuring inventory turns are optimized.
- Sea Freight vs. Air Freight : Maintain the appropriate balance between sea and air freight to ensure cost-effectiveness and timely delivery, while adhering to lead times from key supply regions (Korea, India, UK, Indonesia etc.).
- Container Flow Management : Collaborate with clearing agents, transporters, and respective stakeholders to ensure efficient container flow and adherence to shipping schedules.
- Supplier Relationship & Performance : Maintain strong relationships with international suppliers to ensure timely deliveries, manage supplier performance, and review vendor performance against agreed service level agreements (SLAs).
- Costing & Shipment Accuracy : Ensure timely and accurate shipment costing and reporting to optimize cost efficiency across the inbound supply chain.
- Risk Mitigation & Compliance : Develop, implement, and maintain risk management policies and procedures specific to the planning department to mitigate risks associated with supply chain disruptions or inventory shortages.
- Back Order Management : Actively monitor and manage aging back orders, escalating any issues and working with suppliers to expedite delivery where necessary.
Qualifications and Experience - Bachelor’s degree and Advanced Diploma with NFQ level 7 in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Management (0r equivalent)
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar environment, of which at least 1 - 3 years' supervisory / team lead experience
- Extensive experience dealing with international suppliers and service providers, particularly in managing inbound supply chains and container logistics.
- Proven track record in optimizing demand planning processes and achieving supply chain targets such as first pick ratios, inventory turnover and cost management.
