To teach, share and ignite a passion for the hospitality industry within eager young students helping them to grow individually and mature in their careers within the hospitality industry. The incumbent will be responsible for the overall teaching and learning activities, and additional relevant academic activities in support of a positive student experience, and in furtherance of the brand's academic standing.
KEY RESULTS AREA:
Coordinating, mentoring and assisting students with respect to theory and practical studies and cultivation of the individual creative spirit.
Development of teaching material, including - but not limited to - presentation slides, videos, written feedback
Timeous delivery of student feedback - both in written and verbal formats, and in person and through the LMS
Overall grading and accurate recording of all formal assessments on all platforms
Participation in cross-marking whenever necessary
Completion of moderation collateral, and loading of scripts onto the moderation platforms
Tracking of student performance, and implementation of relevant interventions
Managing student discipline and formal correspondence relating to student discipline
Implementation of and adherence to policies and processes as set out by legislation, accreditation
bodies and the IIE School of Hospitality & Management
Coordinating of all aspects of assessment delivery which may include invigilation, student preparation/ revision and extra classes
Engagement in other academic activities, including research, marketing, campus and virtual events, and community engagement projects
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
MA/ MSC in Hospitality or Tourism Management, with Accounting module
NQF level 7/8 Accounting or Business Management qualification
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Minimum of 3-5 years' relevant practical industry experience in Hospitality or Tourism industry
Minimum of 2 years' lecturing/ teaching experience
SKILLS REQUIREMENT:
Proficiency in Learner Management Systems such as Blackboard, Canvas, Brightspace
An ability to interact positively with students, colleagues, parents and sponsors
An ability to communicate well at all levels
Good understanding of all legislation relevant to education and training within hospitality industry
An appreciation of the hospitality and food service industry
Proficient in related computer software and strong admin ability
