Your Role Join Our Team as a Weather Risk and Geohazards Manager and Lead the Way in Natural Perils Management! Are you an expert in meteorology, climate science, or geoscience with a passion for leading teams and driving innovation? We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Natural Perils, Modelling, Pricing & Engineering team as a Weather Risk and Geohazards Manager. As the Weather Risk and Geohazards Manager, you'll be the owner of weather and geological risks, leading a team of specialists to research, review, build, and implement models used for risk-based pricing, reinsurance modelling, major event response, and other strategic initiatives. You'll manage major peril event operations, including loss reserving, reporting, and weather / climate outlooks, ensuring our business is prepared and responsive to natural peril events. Your Responsibilities
- Lead a team of meteorological and geological science experts.
- Oversee the development and implementation of models.
- Provide advisory services for risk-based pricing and reinsurance modelling.
- Manage event response, reporting, and loss reserving for major natural peril events.
- Collaborate with Actuarial Reserving teams to enhance capabilities.
- Provide short, medium, and long-term weather / climate outlooks and insights for various operational needs.
- Manage the process, delivery, and defence of peril event classification in line with Group Reinsurance loss occurrence clauses.
- Build strategic relationships with external scientific research partners.
- Manage programs to enhance understanding of peril risk.
- 8+ years of experience in catastrophe model development, insurance pricing for natural perils, or related activities.
- Expert ability to communicate complex, quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner.
- Highly organized, with high attention to detail and forward planning.
- Demonstrated experience in managing issues, programs, and stakeholders in large and complex organizations.
- Advanced ability to lead and develop a strong team of specialists.
- Experience in climate / weather research and / or collaborating with research organizations.
- Proficiency in statistical software packages (R, SAS) and geospatial software (QGIS, ArcGIS, or Mapinfo).
- Educational background in meteorology, atmospheric science, climate science, geoscience, or related fields (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD).
