Metal Fabricator

Our Client WOHLFAHRT CHOOKS PTY LTD, ABN - 59 651 247 326 – Located in Cairns is seeking a Full-time Metal Fabricator for between $73,000 - $85,000 per year

DUTIES:

• Reading and interpreting engineering blueprints.
• Cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines.
• Shaping and bending metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering
• Aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments
• Joining metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting and riveting
• Examining welds for width of bead, penetration and precision
• Finishing products by cleaning, polishing, filing and bathing in acidic solutions
• Cleaning and smoothing welds by filing, chiselling and grinding
• Constructing base templates if necessary.
• Setting up metalwork machinery including rollers, drill presses, flame cutters, brakes, and shears.
• Fabricating and constructing metal components.
• Performing quality checks on completed products.
• Conforming with state and company safety regulations.
• Completing job reports.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• At least 2 years fulltime work experience
• Relevant trade qualification
• Ticketed welders or equivalent and relevant experienced people also welcome to apply
• Mig and Tig work generally on materials under 8mm
• High level of material finishing
• Must be prepared to adhere with the company’s Workplace Health and Safety standards and requirements
