Job Title: Mass Spectrometry Specialist Vacancy: 1 Vacancy Job Description:
- Operate and maintain mass spectrometry instruments (e.g., LC-MS/MS, MALDI-TOF, Orbitrap) for biological sample analysis.
- Develop and optimize methods for proteomics, metabolomics, lipidomics, and small molecule analysis.
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses of complex biological samples.
- Analyze mass spectrometry data using software such as MaxQuant, Skyline, and Proteome Discoverer.
- Interpret results to determine biomolecule composition, structure, and function.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations summarizing findings and recommendations.
- Perform sample preparation, including protein extraction, enzymatic digestion, desalting, and fractionation.
- Implement specialized workflows, including isotope labeling and targeted quantification.
- Troubleshoot and refine sample preparation protocols to enhance data quality and consistency.
- Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of mass spectrometry instruments.
- Resolve method and instrument-related issues to minimize downtime and ensure continuous analysis.
- Ensure the lab is stocked with reagents, consumables, and parts for ongoing operations.
- Support research by developing and validating new mass spectrometry workflows.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on research projects, including biologists, chemists, and data scientists.
- Stay updated with advancements in mass spectrometry technologies and methodologies.
- Ensure compliance with GLP, GMP, and safety protocols in all work.
- Implement quality assurance protocols to ensure reproducibility and data integrity.
- Maintain accurate records in laboratory notebooks and electronic systems to meet regulatory requirements.
- Train and mentor junior staff, students, and researchers on mass spectrometry techniques.
- Collaborate with external partners or academic institutions for advanced analyses and new workflow development.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience with mass spectrometry instrumentation in a research or laboratory setting.
- Proven expertise in proteomics, metabolomics, lipidomics, or small molecule analysis.
- Experience with advanced data analysis software (e.g., MaxQuant, Skyline, Proteome Discoverer).
- Strong proficiency in biological sample preparation and purification techniques.
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
- Solid understanding of GMP, GLP, and quality assurance protocols.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to prepare reports and presentations for technical and non-technical audiences.
