See yourself in our team Business Banking Technology is responsible for the world-leading application of technology and operations across every aspect of CommBank - from innovative product platforms for our customers, to essential tools within our business. We also use technology to drive simplicity and better banking, an essential component of great customer service underpinning a strong emphasis on software development as a craft and the adoption of industry best engineering practices. You'll be part of a wider BB Tech team integrated into the Term Loans Crew in Business Lending Domain. The crew is reimagining the way we provide choice, certainty and simplicity for all customers with a Term loan need. We do this through building next gen digital and automated solutions using BIAN and BaaS microservices architecture. As a Staff Systems Engineer at Commonwealth Bank you will take ownership of the designing, refining and uplifting of our technology stack to meet the expectation of our external and internal customers. This role will play a critical role in helping our BB Tech delivery teams design and implement their initiatives. A key challenge will be balancing the above appetite for introducing revolutionary technologies with the groups risk exposure. You will foster an environment of engineering excellence and a culture of ongoing improvement. You will support critical programs of work by designing and implementing solutions for business-driven initiatives and technology uplift. We're interested in hearing from people who:
  • Have advanced technical knowledge and experience to assist in resolving technology issues.
  • Have strong Engineering mindset capable of managing the end to end solution design and delivery from ideation to deployment
  • Resolve complex problems and issues in the Solution design and assess potential risks and determine possible solutions.
  • Have strong interpersonal and communication skills with a bias towards action.
  • Have strong understanding of secure by design
  • Work closely with our delivery teams to ensure delivery velocity and quality targets are met
  • Work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders; taking a Consulting approach with the delivery team to provide support for execution.
  • Work in a fast paced, complex, agile environment
Tech Skills We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We do not expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these, or a willing to learn these skillsets (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team.
  • Strong system engineering background capable of adapting to a rapidly changing and evolving landscape
  • Experience with producing Solution Designs, with a focus on Technology supporting Business Banking Technology inclusive of Workflow, APIs/Integrations and digitisation services eg Pega, Rest APIs, Microservices etc
  • Designing, documenting and presenting formal solution designs.
  • Pega CPBA or Pega CSA 8.x certification or any other workflow (Power Apps, Service now) related certifications are desirable.
  • Agile & Scrum Knowledge
  • Knowledge of Standard industry tools for CI/CD pipeline, AWS Cloud etc are desirable.
  • Strong domain knowledge in Banking and Financial services (highly desirable).
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Drive bank's ambition of decoupled BIAN Service Domains tech stack built on reusable microservice APIs based architecture.
