About the Role: This permanent part-time position is an opportunity for an experienced nurse leader to join the Medical Outpatients team at Villa 2. Working closely with the Medical Outpatient Operations Manager (MOOM), you will support the effective operational and clinical management of the service. About the Team/Service/ Location: Located at Hawkes Bay Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital, our Medical Outpatients Service is a dynamic and collaborative environment committed to patient-centered care. Villa 2 is a key part of our outpatient services, upholding values that promote holistic, culturally responsive healthcare. This role supports nursing and healthcare assistant staff to ensure continuity of quality care, safe staffing levels, and effective coordination with other departments. About you: As the Associate Clinical Nurse Manager, you will bring a blend of clinical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to equitable, culturally responsive healthcare. You will be passionate about fostering a supportive, inclusive team environment and dedicated to continuous improvement in patient outcomes. Specifically, you will have:
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
  • Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead by example and support a team in providing high-quality care. You bring experience in coaching, mentoring, and supervising nursing staff and are adept at fostering a collaborative, positive, and resilient workplace culture.
  • Clinical Expertise: Significant clinical experience and a deep understanding of medical outpatient services, with the capability to step in and provide direct patient care when needed. You are skilled in making sound clinical decisions and prioritizing patient safety in a busy and evolving environment.
  • Human Resources Management: Experience managing human resource functions, including safe staffing, performance management, and compliance with collective agreements. You have demonstrated your ability to handle recruitment, onboarding, training, rostering, and leave management, ensuring that team performance aligns with organizational goals and safety standards.
  • Quality and Improvement Focus: A strong focus on quality initiatives and continuous improvement, with experience supporting audits, evaluations, and event/complaint management processes. You are committed to implementing and enhancing quality systems that ensure excellent patient care and align with best practice standards.
  • Health and Safety Awareness: You prioritize health and safety in all aspects of your work, adhering to policies and procedures to maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors alike. You understand your responsibilities in identifying and addressing risks and are prepared to act to prevent harm to yourself or others.
  • In addition to these skills, you’re driven by a commitment to providing equitable care and closing gaps in health outcomes. You bring a patient-centered approach, respect diverse life experiences, and value the perspectives that enhance our team and enrich the quality of care we deliver.
