Track Technical Expert - MaintenanceSiemens Mobility is currently operating and maintaining the Education City Tram network. The People Mover System (PMS) is the first low floor catenary-free tram system in the world. It uses a Hybrid Energy System (HES) which incorporates a combination of super-capacitors and batteries to power the tram between charging locations along the line. It is manually operated on line of sight rules and the system is being designed in compliance with BO Strab regulations and guidance. 11 km of track serves both the North and South Campuses of Education City and 19 trams of the Siemens Avenio range are in operation. Siemens Mobility is seeking to strengthen its Team of Operations & Maintenance professionals.We are looking for someone with experience of working within a multidisciplinary maintenance organisation. This is a rewarding role that will allow you to join an existing high performing team and develop your skills in our established and successful business.What are my responsibilities?Responsible for the Health, Safety and Wellbeing of all those within the team.Lead and direct the team on a day-to-day basis to achieve production contracted availability, reliability and contractual KPI's.Responsible for the planning, on site co-ordination and management of resources people (rosters), plant & materials on a day-by-day basis for Trackwork activities.Strategic overview and planning of available resources to meet current and future operational requirements.Ensure that the Tramway is maintained to a standard which renders it fit to operate a public service.Ensure Infrastructure is maintained in accordance with current maintenance procedures and that these procedures are continuously reviewed in light of any changes in legislation, changes in technology, innovation etc.Ensure safe systems of work are devised and implemented for staff or contractors undertaking maintenance and response activities.Ensure all personnel are trained and competent for the roles and tasks they are required to undertake, also including any contractors working on site.Maintain the Competency Management System (CMS).Responsible for ensuring that all Trackwork assets on the tram network are maintained safely in accordance with applicable technical and safety standards.Responsible for ensuring the Trackwork activities detailed in the Track Maintenance handbook are implemented for the Tram Network.Managing and checking the quality of work delivered and confirming assets are compliant to applicable standards.Responsible for analysis and interpretation of track measurement data.Responsible for recommending and implementing corrective action identified from the analysis of track measurement data.Arranging with specialist contractors suitably qualified resource when required and the checking of applicable method statements, risk assessments and plans.Responsible for undertaking detailed inspection of the track and associated assets in accordance with the track maintenance handbook.Mentoring and development of staff in Trackwork skills.Early identification of Trackwork assets that will require renewal.Provide guidance for team members on technical and operational issues.What do I need to qualify for this job?Minimum of Apprentice level qualification in Civil or Trackwork Engineering or a Degree in Engineering. Or 10 years' experience in similar Railway Maintenance role.Knowledge and experience of Trackwork maintenance processes, systems and standards.Able to demonstrate, promote and embed safe working behaviours within the team.Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.Able to coach, influence and develop others.Hold and retain the competencies relevant to this post and required by business need.Good communication, planning and organisational skills.Knowledge of Continuous Improvement Techniques.An understanding of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and their reporting functions.Good understanding of Infrastructure maintenance, in particular that appertaining to track, power equipment, overhead line equipment, signaling and communications equipment.
