Senior Analyst Inshore Fisheries Role type: Permanent Location: Napier (preferred) or Wellington Salary Range: $98,955 to $115,691 depending on skills and experience Kōrero mō te Tūranga - About the Role Alongside supporting key projects, you will have the opportunity to develop and lead various pieces of impactful work. There will be an element of understanding and interpreting fisheries data. You do not need to be a fish expert, but you'll understand how to translate data into helpful insights. The work in this role is diverse. In any given week you could be:
- writing aide memoirs and ministerial correspondence
- writing cabinet papers
- reviewing internal processes
- involved in regulatory design
- helping turn a problem into a regulation solution
- Genuine interest in the sea, oceans, and fisheries
- Analytical skills and the capacity to quickly identify and clearly define an issue
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, listening, and written)
- Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and ability to apply Māori knowledge and values to your work
- Understanding of Government processes including Parliamentary processes
- Experience establishing and effectively maintaining collaborative relationships with tangata whenua, stakeholders, and Government agencies
- Some knowledge of fisheries management and regulatory frameworks

- Most preferably a New Zealand citizen, who has resided continuously in New Zealand for at least the last five (5) years, OR
- Is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last five (5) years: Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom (UK), or the United States of America (USA);
