Job Description:Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Technical / Design Director to join our team! In this role you will get to provide technical leadership and direction for every phase of a large infrastructure program, consisting of multiple drainage system and tunneling projects.We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Technical / Design Director to implement solutions to some of the most complex challenges for this program, who has proven experience of leading successful rainwater drainage (stormwater), sewage network and tunnelling projects in the GCC and Internationally, particularly in urban settings. Experience with climate resilience and sustainable infrastructure projects is highly desirable.The Technical / Design Director will provide guidance and clear direction to the program team, even when faced with the most nuanced of obstacles. We are targeting accomplished industry experts; in possession of a collaborative attitude and proven leadership capability. This role requires a strategic thinker with exceptional leadership skills and extensive experience in managing large-scale infrastructure projects.What You'll Be Doing:Owner of all technical & delivery services requirements, standards, strategies, policies, plans and processes/procedures and best practices developed for the program.Directing the overall planning of design activities across multiple projects in order to identify key milestones and priorities.Determine the budget and staffing requirements for the defined design scope and schedule.Overseeing all aspects of design operations, ensuring that projects are executed efficiently, within schedule and budget whilst maintaining the highest standard of safety and quality.Providing technical expertise and guidance on all design methodologies, collaborating with the relevant engineering teams to ensure that plans result in a structurally sound outcome.Managing workforce to ensure efficiency is maximized and set schedules are maintained within budget. Taking preventative action when required to ensure that critical milestones on project are met.Effectively managing all design department resources; including workforce planning, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.Ensuring the use of sound design and construction practices to safeguard quality control across the complete scope of work.Proactive leadership and management of the relevant stakeholders to the design department.Managing department budgets, procurement strategies and cash flow.Preparing and presenting periodic reports to summarize design activity progress for senior internal management in addition to external stakeholders.Mentoring and leading employees fostering an environment of collaboration and innovation.Ensure the implementation of advanced design standards, systems, technologies and methodologies to create a state-of-the-art drainage network.Develop and maintain detailed design schedules, ensuring all phases are completed on time and within budget.What Required Skills You'll Bring:20+ years of experience in the civil engineering industry, majorly secured within the design function. A minimum of 10+ years of experience within a role of similar seniority.Bachelor's degree in civil engineering in addition to professional qualifications deemed relevant to the seniority of this role.Prior experience working on major infrastructure, drainage, sewage, tunnels, utilities projects essential.Major earthworks and/or tunneling experience would be preferred.GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) experience preferred.Experience with sustainable infrastructure projects and climate resilience initiatives is highly desirable.What Desired Skills You'll Bring:Effective oral and written skills for client presentations, technical reporting, and internal/external correspondence.Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with all levels of the project team, clients, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders.Deep understanding of design principles, methodologies, and best practices specific to large-scale stormwater drainage systems and tunneling projects.Proficiency in using advanced design software and technologies.Ability to develop, maintain, and adjust detailed design schedules, ensuring all phases are completed on time and within budget.Understanding of budget development and cost control specific to design activities.Expertise in implementing and maintaining high standards of quality control throughout the design process.Strong leadership skills to guide and mentor a multidisciplinary design team, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives.Ability to interface with all levels with project team, client, and others.Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents.Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.Strong analytical skills to address complex design challenges and develop effective solutions.Ability to function in a multi-organizational environment by developing relationships that comply with the client's proactive, collaborative culture.Knowledge of sustainable design practices and the ability to integrate these into project plans to support climate resilience goals.Comprehensive knowledge of local and international design regulations and standards, ensuring all activities are compliant.Minimum Clearance Required to Start:Not Applicable/NoneParsons is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity in the workplace.
