Job SummaryThe Environmental Officer adheres to best industry practices, both in terms of results and effectiveness, in order to identify and distribute information on environmental programs that incorporate sustainable development. Encourages projects to apply environmental principles and participate in sustainable development programs and activities at local, regional, and international levels; and keeps abreast of international developments that can contribute to environmental best practices.Job ResponsibilitiesResponsible for all environmental matters for project, yard, and facility based on assignment, including developing environmental requirements.Implements Environment Management Plan (EMP) and supports development of project HSE strategy, often responsible for section and/or project.Identify and distribute information on environmental programs that incorporate sustainable development.Monitor the impact of the operation on the natural environment, identify areas of risk, and develop adaptive management strategies to mitigate impacts.Conducts Environment Aspects and Impacts Analysis for all working sites.Adopt appropriate suggestions and recommendations to be enacted for the positive enhancement of the environment.Ensure that negative and significant impacts of project activities are limited, reduced, and controlled to bring about positive changes.Examine and maintain continual improvement through continuous monitoring, checking, and evaluating the existing operational process of the system.Recommends all environmental positive enhancement tools for air, water, land, noise, dust, waste, processes, etc., and accordingly will be discussed, planned, suggested, implemented, and evaluated for operations.Assisting in preparing service proposal tenders and project bidding documents, particularly in environment and sustainability.Job Knowledge & SkillsKnowledge of Environmental Management systems and standards.Basic knowledge of chemistry and technical expertise for various environmental issues.Knowledge of relevant legislation and the consenting process.Knowledge of local laws and legislative processes related to the work.Knowledge of scientific principles relative to environmental control.Sustainability Certification (IEMA Environmental Certificate, GSAS certified).Knowledge in Waste Management Controls.ERP knowledge, preferably SAP functional skills.Job Experience6 years total, including 5 years on the job and 3 years in the GCC.CompetenciesCollaborationAccountabilityResilienceQualityLeadershipSafety Procedures and Compliance L2Safety Management L2Incident Investigations L2Safety Program Development L2Accident Reduction Programs L2EducationBachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering or Environmental Management.Diploma in NEBOSH or Lead Auditor Certificates for ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001 & ISO22301.
