Job Location: Hyderabad/BhubaneshwarPosition Overview:The Agrometeorologist is responsible for analyzing weather and climate data to provide insights that improve agricultural decision-making. This role involves interpreting meteorological data to predict crop performance, issue weather-related advisories, and help farmers and agricultural stakeholders optimize planting, irrigation, and harvesting practices. The Agrometeorologist plays a key role in ensuring sustainable agricultural practices by considering environmental factors and supporting risk management related to climate variability. This role offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on improving agricultural productivity and sustainability through the effective use of weather and climate data.Key Responsibilities:Weather Data Analysis: Analyze and interpret meteorological data (e.g., temperature, precipitation, humidity) and its impact on crop health and productivity.Forecasting: Provide short-term and seasonal weather forecasts and their implications for agricultural activities such as planting, irrigation, and harvesting.Agro-Advisories: Issue agro-meteorological advisories to farmers and stakeholders, offering guidance on crop management in response to weather forecasts.Data Integration: Work with satellite data, remote sensing, and climate models to predict crop yields and manage risks associated with weather and climate variability.Research: Conduct research on climate change impacts on agriculture and develop strategies for climate-resilient farming.Collaboration: Work with agronomists, meteorologists, and other experts to create comprehensive agro-climatic models and support sustainable agricultural practices.Training & Outreach: Provide training and educational support to farmers and agricultural extension workers on the use of weather data for better farming decisions.Documentation & Reporting: Prepare reports and presentations on weather patterns, agricultural impacts, and recommendations for mitigating climate risks.Qualifications:Master's degree in Agrometeorology, Meteorology, Agriculture, or related fields.8-10 years of experience with meteorology, climatology, and their application in agriculture.Experience with agro-advisory services and working directly with farmers or agricultural stakeholders.Experience in analyzing meteorological data and using forecasting tools.Proficiency in using weather forecasting software and tools (e.g., WRF, DSSAT).Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Preferred Skills:Knowledge of climate change impacts on agriculture and sustainable farming practices.Ability to communicate complex meteorological concepts to non-experts effectively.Familiarity with remote sensing, GIS, and climate models for agriculture.
