Location: in our offices in Lisbon, on a hybrid working schedule (3 days in the offices and 2 days working from home per week).About the Role:The Accounting Manager is responsible for the Accounting Finance and Tax team in Portugal. The selected candidate will be responsible for monthly closing reports and the closing process, providing timely and accurate reporting in accordance with both local regulations and US GAAP requirements.This position is also responsible for ensuring that bookkeeping is in accordance with local regulations and Corporate Policies and Procedures, as well as being responsible for the country Quarterly Balance review with EMEA Business Control.In this role you will be responsible for:Accounting: Oversees financial and accounting processes to ensure compliance with Corporate and local policies, statutory requirements and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles/Standards and ethical standards with unyielding integrity; supports the Country Controller with independent auditors (external and internal); completes and reviews accounting close activities, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations; manages administration of accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory control accounting, payroll, and local tax payments; helps in allocation items in the Balance in coordination with the Local and GBS team.Tax: Responsible for all taxes, presenting them on time; payment and calculation of all local taxes; maintains all substantiation records for tax.Reporting: Preparation of the annual financial plan and forecasts; prepares financial statements; preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports for the Committee; prepares financial reports to support the analysis of main KPI's; prepares accurate financial statements in US and Local GAAP.Controls: Ensures all activities comply with relevant Acts, legal demands, ethical standards and the internal Quality Management System.Treasury: Handles bank administration, funds transfers and foreign exchange dealings under the direction of Corporate Treasury and Country Controller.Balance Sheet and Assets Management: Responsible for balance review and reconciliations of accounts; achieves effective balance sheet and assets management; develops and maintains credit and collection policies, procedures and processes for effective AR management; develops and carries out inventory control procedures, including physical stock-take, audit and control of both warehouse and hospital consignment inventory; maintains proper inventory reserves for Excess, Expired and Obsolete Inventory; coordinates effective cash management and cash forecasting to ensure smooth cash flows for business operations while maintaining a minimum idle cash balance; maintains asset register to keep track of and safeguard company assets.What are we looking for in you:We are looking for a professional with high experience in Accounting, ideally within matrix structures in multinational companies; previous experience in Auditing is welcomed.Knowledge of Portuguese accounting regulations is a must.Ability to work and coordinate with several departments, keeping good interpersonal skills.Native Portuguese; fluency in English (written and spoken is a must); knowledge of Spanish will be considered a plus.Knowledge of SAP, Hyperion and Tableau is mandatory, and ERP if possible.Solid knowledge of US GAAP.People management skills: guiding, coaching, directing, and developing direct reports, and if applicable, driving those practices throughout their organization.Internal culture alignment: fostering a diverse workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential in pursuit of organizational objectives.Monitoring and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures (e.g. federal/country and regulatory requirements).Business Acumen: applying understanding of the business and industry standards and how own area integrates with others to achieve unit objectives; monitoring business trends and market developments in own field.Identifying and resolving functional, technical, operational and organizational problems, providing procedures and solutions.Organizational skills: adapting plans and processes to meet business, operational, service and/or project challenges; reprioritizes objectives, milestones, etc. as required.Influencing stakeholders either internally or externally to build collaborative relationships, achieve goals and effectively guide them to understand more complex issues.What can we offer to you:Permanent working contract with attractive benefits, such as:Private Health and Life InsuranceAttractive Pension planTicket Restaurants.Work life balance.Working in an international environment.Inspirational colleagues & culture.We, Boston Scientific, are an equal employment opportunity employer.
