Position: Vice President, Information Services and Technology & Chief Information Officer Position Type: Full-time, Permanent, Management (Internal/External) Location: Edmonton, Alberta Closing Date: Until a suitable candidate is selected About the role:We are seeking a visionary leader who will provide strategic, results-driven oversight, guidance and support to all technology initiatives and operations within APS. Reporting directly to the President and CEO, the Vice President of Information Services and Technology & Chief Information Officer (CIO) will be a member of our executive team and will participate in the development and execution of APS's strategic plan, aligning technology initiatives to the organization's goals and objectives. The CIO is accountable for ensuring that the company's data is secure and may be involved in selecting the hardware, software and technology applications used in alignment with the organization's goals and objectives. Key areas of oversight and responsibility:Strategic vision and leadership: Partner with the CEO and executive team to set financial and strategic goals, implement organizational strategy, and manage key projects. Develop business strategies and plans that align with both short-term and long-term objectives.Enterprise Architecture: Set, monitor and successfully deliver the IT and enterprise architecture strategy and budget and ensure the strategy supports APS business objectives, including ongoing development in response to the fast-changing business environment.Information Technology: Oversee IT infrastructure, corporate IT program portfolio, and information security program, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and exceeding operational and service level standards, while reporting to the CEO on issues, risks, and mitigation strategies. Provide effective oversight of financial and performance data, ensuring prudent oversight to minimize technology costs. Develop an annual continuous service improvement plan for IT in response to customer views and ensure continuous improvement in the services delivered, applying risk management principles in relation to the IT contracts.Team Engagement: Lead a team by fostering growth and collaboration through ongoing coaching and development. Act as the chief steward and innovation channel for team operations, cultivating a high-performance, collaborative environment where contributions are recognized. The Ideal Candidate:You will have proven senior leadership experience, a vision-oriented mindset, and strong organizational skills. You will excel in strategic leadership, planning, execution, and risk management, with excellent interpersonal skills to motivate and inspire teams. You will effectively manage relationships with diverse stakeholders. Key competencies include visionary and organizational awareness, problem-solving, and managing change. You will have a successful track record in strategic planning, roadmap implementation, leading complex transformations, and a strong background in IT service delivery. Financial acumen and the ability to manage financial and resourcing processes are also required. What you bring to the role:Master's Degree with at least 5-10 years of directly related IT experience, orBachelor's Degree with at least 10-15 years of directly related IT experienceProven in-depth knowledge of project management, project controls, procurement, and asset management.Sound knowledge of enterprise architecture principles.
