Computer Lab Assistant

The Computer Lab Assistant provides technical support and assistance to students, faculty, and staff using the computer lab facilities. This role ensures a smooth operation of the lab environment by troubleshooting basic technical issues, maintaining equipment, and providing user guidance.Responsibilities-Technical Support:Troubleshoot and resolve basic computer hardware and software problems.Assist users with printing, file management, and using specific software applications.Guide users on proper use of lab equipment and enforce lab policies.Escalate complex technical problems to IT support staff.Lab Maintenance:Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the lab space.Monitor lab equipment for functionality and report any malfunctions.Perform basic maintenance tasks as directed (e.g., cleaning keyboards, restocking supplies).User Assistance:Provide general technical consultations to lab users.Assist users with accessing online resources and navigating the network.Maintain a welcoming and helpful demeanor for all lab users.Security:Monitor lab entry and exit to ensure equipment security.Enforce policies regarding food, drinks, and proper equipment usage in the lab.Report any suspicious activity or security breaches to supervisors.QualificationsProven experience using computers and familiarity with common operating systems (Windows, macOS).Excellent customer service and communication skills.Ability to explain technical concepts in a clear and concise manner.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Basic knowledge of computer hardware and software troubleshooting.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks.Additional Preferences (Depending on the institution)Experience working in an educational environment (e.g., schools, universities).
