We offer competitive pay, full benefits, and a work-life balance.Why this role is important?Why is this role important:The Consultant Pharmacist is an extended member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team supporting appropriate medication use to residents in long-term care homes and retirement homes. The Consultant Pharmacist works with the healthcare team to review medication used to identify medication-related problems and to achieve desired resident outcomes. The Consultant Pharmacist will provide drug information, be involved in educational activities for healthcare staff, and promote resident safety.What you'll do:Relationship ManagementAct as Brand Ambassador for MediSystem and build trusting client relationshipsDeliver on operational and clinical service commitments to customers (including clinical services, regulated activities and time commitments based on contractual obligations)Complete audit of medication reconciliation as neededEnsure regular scheduled visits are made to all assigned facilitiesSupport business development activitiesAttend client meetings with Operations managers or other MediSystem colleagues, when requestedAssist with the development of facility medication policies and proceduresMaintain ongoing collaboration and communication within the healthcare team and pharmacy team to develop strong partnershipsLead and/or participate in clinical initiatives at homes such prescribing, falls committees and other such activities that provide value for the resident and clientProvide education campaigns and clinic days as per provincial or contractual obligationsComplete and evaluate medication utilization metricsAbility to work in operations when necessaryConduct Resident Medication AssessmentsComplete regular documentation of clinical work in EHR and pharmacy fill/bill system, to ensure full compliance with industry regulations and government legislationAssist in development and effective implementation of clinical projectsSupport safe medication practices within the facilitiesActively educate and act as a resource for the nursing and medical staff as well as the residents and their families as it pertains to medication use and the medication systemAssist in development and implementation of industry leading clinical pharmacy servicesAssist with nursing and retirement home medication processes and documentation to meet regulatory complianceSupport and participate in Patient Safety InitiativesMirror Blue Culture and CORE values by sharing standard processes and ways to work more efficiently with internal departmentsBuilding and leading diverse teams that foster a workplace of inclusiveness and belongingWhat you bring:Must have valid driver's license with own valid insurance and access to a vehicle, as travel to various locations is requiredThe position is 2 days per week, 1 day a week will be in Leduc Alberta and the other will alternate weeks between Mayerthorpe and AthabascaMileage and wage would be paid, Overnight not requiredPharmacist licensure in good standing in Alberta and valid professional liability insuranceProven relationship management and interpersonal skills to allow to develop strong partnerships with clientsA history of being a continuous learner where the skills and knowledge have been developed to be a respected pharmacy professionalExcellent presentation skillsExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenEffective organization, planning, and time management skillsAbility to work independentlyClinical and Geriatric pharmacy experience preferredLong-term care pharmacy background is preferredCertified Geriatric Pharmacist (CGP) and Certified Diabetes Education (CDE) designations is an assetProficient in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPointExperience with Kroll pharmacy experience is an assetEmployment Type:Part timeType of Role:RegularShoppers Drug Mart Inc. recognizes Canada's diversity as a source of national pride and strength.
