Estimating Manager, Heavy Civil / Microtunneling | Infrastructure ContractorPosted 28 mins agoHeavy civils contractor experienced in underground utilities, piping, microtunnelingOur Client, a leading heavy civils contractor involved in microtunneling, underground utilities and piping is seeking an Estimating Manager for projects (ranging from $10m - $100m). The Estimating Manager will oversee daily activities of the estimating department for Infrastructure division. The successful candidate will be performing a wide range of tasks and support business priorities in a fast-paced environment. This position will be based in Vancouver BC.Key Responsibilities:Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers. Follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditionsCreate a collaborative and open communication environment to drive early awareness of problems and creative solutions.Mentor and develop team members; provide feedback; support internal and external opportunities to build professional and managerial skills as well as additional certification achievements.Set department objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reportsProvide high-quality services and innovative solutions to complex estimating infrastructure civil challenges involving multiple stakeholders.Review, analyze and understand economic trends and consider risks and cost implicationsAnalyze and identify key areas of improvement and apply cost estimation techniques effectively to drive cost reductions and aid operational processes and efficiency.Utilize cost methodologies and tools and appropriate software models and packages to prepare and maintain reliable and accurate estimating data.Ensure appropriate monitoring, reporting systems and procedures are in place to meet objectivesProvide strategic and operational information and reports to share with others and when requiredEngage with stakeholders to ensure all cost ideas are input to prepare complex cost modelsSupport supplier meetings and negotiations to challenge quotation prices and aim for cost reductions to meet target costs.Mobilize company resources, through liaison with support departments, to create teams capable of completing effective and quality workEncourage and exceed compnay core values - assisting with the implementation of all applicable civil works.Participation and active involvement in industry associations, committees, or boards.Key Responsibilities:Minimum of 7 years of relevant cost estimating experience in the construction or heavy civil industry, including 3 years of successful leadership and project management experienceExperience with Microsoft Office, MS Project, and Adobe.
