Backend Engineer

ROLE PURPOSE

As a Backend Developer you will play a crucial role in developing serverside logic ensuring the seamless integration and performance of frontend elements and maintaining the overall robustness of our applications. You will work closely with our talented engineering team to design implement and optimise scalable systems throughout the development lifecycle.

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• ServerSide Development: Develop and maintain highquality serverside application logic.
• Integration: Seamlessly integrate userfacing elements developed by frontend developers with serverside logic.
• Database Design: Design and implement efficient data storage solutions.
• Performance Optimisation: Ensure applications perform optimally and respond efficiently to frontend requests.
• Troubleshooting: Identify bottlenecks and bugs and devise solutions to mitigate and address these issues.
• Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other team members and stakeholders to enhance functionality and user experience.
• Scalability: Optimise applications to maximise speed and scale adjusting as necessary for specific project constraints.
• Continuous Improvement: Actively contribute to improving our development processes and practices.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Extensive experience as a Senior Backend Developer.
• Strong proficiency in backend programming languages such as Ruby Python.
• Experience with database systems like MySQL PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
• Familiarity with server technologies including Node.js J2EE Apache Nginx ISS.
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools like Git.
• Experience in developing secure web applications and managing user authentication and authorization across multiple systems.
• Ability to integrate various data sources and databases into a cohesive system.
• Excellent problemsolving skills with a strong ability to work effectively in a team.
• Experience with AWS and Google Clouds core services.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs tailored for web applications.
• Prior experience leading development teams is highly desirable.
