Description:
In this role, you will provide direct patient care to critically ill infants, children, and adolescents. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of specialists to develop and implement individualized care plans. You will also be responsible for educating families on their child's condition and providing emotional support. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of PICU experience and be certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Responsibilities:
Provide direct patient care to infants, children, and adolescents with life-threatening medical conditions
Monitor patients' vital signs and administer medications as prescribed
Perform diagnostic tests and interpret results
Collaborate with physicians and other members of the healthcare team to develop and implement treatment plans
Educate patients and families about disease process, treatments, and expected outcomes
Serve as a resource to patients' families, providing emotional support during a difficult time
Advocate for patients' rights and best interests
Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
Participate in quality improvement initiatives
Stay up-to-date on current pediatric nursing practices
Serve as a preceptor to new nurses and students
Provide leadership and direction to less experienced staff
Requirements:
Registered nurse with valid state license
Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN)
2+ years of experience in a pediatric ICU setting
Current certification in CPR and BLS
Ability to work well under pressure and multitask
Excellent critical thinking, assessment, and decision-making skills
