Oil & Shipping Reporter - Singapore
Detalhes do emprego
Bloomberg News is one of the biggest financial and business news organizations in the world. We lead the way in breaking news and providing analysis on financial markets, from daily coverage through to in-depth features. We are known for our quality, accuracy and ability to deliver news investors can use. It's what keeps us inventing and re-inventing, all the time. Bloomberg News is looking for an enthusiastic, versatile and resourceful reporter to cover the oil and shipping industry out of Singapore, Asia's trading hub. You will join a team tracking the world's most traded commodity with a focus on Asia Pacific and the Middle East, and will be expected to juggle market coverage with deep reporting on the consequences of an ever-expanding global sanctions regime. A major part of the role will involve reporting on the opaque but vital shipping industry, writing on everything from hijacks and troublesome choke-points to the expanding dark fleet moving Iranian and Russian oil around the world, as well as the climate cost of it all. We are looking for someone with a passion for oil and geopolitics, an eye for stories no one else is telling and a demonstrated ability to connect the dots. Good sourcing skills are vital, as is a proactive approach to covering a fast-moving beat where the news will rarely come in a press release. The ability and willingness to collaborate across borders to tell the Asian story for a global audience is essential. We'll trust you to:
- Break news on companies, markets and trends
- Get right to the heart of the biggest stories to interpret wider industrial and economic impact
- Report with speed and accuracy
- Generate quick analysis on fast-paced developments, as well as long-form stories with in-depth insights
- Work seamlessly and proactively with teams across regions and departments
- Be innovative and creative in writing and formatting stories
- At least 3 years of recent experience in financial journalism
- Experience working at a real-time news service
- Experience reporting on Oil markets/commodities
- The ability to write fast, compelling and accurate stories in English, often under time pressure
- Proficiency in both spoken and written English
- Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organization
- Bachelor's degree or degree-equivalent qualifications
