As a Substation Design Engineerin Engineering Services, you’ll provide solutions and services that help our customers protect and control critical electrical infrastructure and power systems worldwide. As a Substation Design Engineer, a typical day might include the following:

Creating substation physical design packages for transmission & distribution utilities, generation facilities, and industrial clients.
Creating electrical design deliverables which include general arrangement/electrical layout, electrical elevations/sections and details, conduit and trench plan, cable schedule, grounding plan and details, lightning plan etc.
Performing substation design calculations which include bus sizing, grounding study, voltage drop and cable sizing, lightning study, AC/DC load study and battery sizing, insulation coordination etc.
Preparing equipment specifications.
Perform quality control checks on substation physical design package.
Demonstrating ownership of each component of the substation design process, and delivery of the overall package.

This job might be for you if:

You have a B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline.
You have the ability to work independently, accepting ownership of assigned responsibilities.
You are willing to travel as needed.
You have strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
You have the ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
You have experience in using substation design software tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, Inventor, SDS – Substation Design Suite Physical, WinIGS, CDEGS, or similar.
You have the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.

Career Levels: Project Engineer II 4+ years of experience with electrical power systems with a focus in substation design Project Engineer III 8+ years of experience with electrical power systems with a focus in substation design Sr Project Engineer 12+ years of experience with electrical power systems with a focus in substation design Location Houston, TX-This position is located in Houston, TX.
