The Infrastructure Engineer - VMWare will support the Infrastructure function globally by administering and supporting the virtualization infrastructure in JM’s enterprise estate. The primary goal of the role is twofold: firstly designing, implementing, and maintaining our VMware infrastructure. Secondary is the 3rd line incident and service request trouble shooting/fulfilment, projects, service improvements, and setting standards through documenting policy and process. The role will support the Infrastructure Lead Engineer and broader JM IT infrastructure & Operations teams with the daily Service requests, process improvements, problem resolution and incidence resolution.   1. Administer, support and maintain VMWare infrastructure including resource management and licensing compliance. Ensure that backups are performed regularly, tested, and in accordance with operational and technical standards.
  2. Monitor, manage and maintain day to day activities of virtualised environments, respond and address system alerts, notifications.
  3. Participate in the CDC on-call rota and act as an escalation point for 2nd line Global Operations Centre teams.
  4. As part of a team participate in 3rd line incident troubleshooting and resolution and project work.
  5. Work in the office 3 times a week.
Requirements for the role:
  • Deep understanding and working knowledge of configuring, deploying and maintenance of VMWare.
  • Experience managing and maintaining virtual server platforms, ensuring regular backups, and maintaining documentation.
  • Strong understanding of VMware technologies, including vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi.
  • Experience with virtualization, storage, and networking.
  • Relevant industry qualifications, such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP), VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP), or VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX).
  • Other relevant certifications, such as CompTIA Server+, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
